Thai Krathong
I had the opportunity to watch Duangrudee do watermelon and vegetable carving at her restaurant, Thai Krathong, located in Canal Park. Here are a few shots of carving in action as well as finished products. The food she served after her demonstration was excellent and I would recommend it highly. Photos by Nancy J. Lindberg
The Duluth Photography Institute has organized a group of local photographers to learn on-location photography and environmental portraits while recording the people, places, and events of the Duluth-Superior Area. If you are a photographer and want to learn more about this type of photography, contact Brian at dpi@duluthphotographyinstitute.com or call 218.393.2468 and apply to be a part of the group! Enjoy!

Sailboat Racing - Duluth Yacht Club
(Photos and text by Joni Tauzell)
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to photograph on the Mustang Sally II during a race. Thank you to Tim and Sally Buck and the entire crew for the wonderful welcome and the adventure. I wish I could show more of the evening as it was just awesome, until the last time I slid over the deck and almost into the water. Just a little scary on that one.

The Duluth Children's Museum
Ask Michael Garcia if the new location of the Duluth Children's Museum is a great move forward for Duluth and the many children of all ages and his face will surely light up and his smile will go from ear to ear. I had never been to the Museum before and I had my own preconceived notions on what is was going to be like. Boring and history for kids is what I first thought. Not so. I was so amazed and impressed by what I saw and how much family involvement there was. It was intriguing to watch children experiment with nanos and magnetism and seeing the young and young at heart learn the stock market. The Dream Machine is where children can sail, drive, fish from and imagine from sits on the second floor for all to explore. What makes the Duluth Children's Museum unique is that many families visit it at least two times per week while most Children's Museums across the country visit them on a average of two times per year. The Clyde Iron building on 27th Ave W is the new home of the Duluth Children's Museum so grab your young spirit, your kids or grand kids and visit.
A Day for a Train Ride
One of the great places for families to visit in Duluth is the Lake Superior Train Museum. Greater still is choosing from one of several train rides up the north shore. I still love riding the train and have a great friend who is a volunteer conductor on for the train rides. Gordon recently invited myself and two other photographers on the train to capture some of the moments.
